Ethical Sourcing
We ensure that every emerald we process is sourced in compliance with the highest ethical standards:
Traceability: Klear Green meticulously maintains detailed records of gemstone provenance, tracing each emerald back to its mine of origin. Additionally, we ensure transparency and accountability by rigorously tracking the flow of funds associated with the procurement, processing, and sale of gemstones. This dual approach helps prevent the circulation of conflict gemstones, supports responsible mining communities, and ensures ethical financial practices.
Supplier Code of Conduct: All our suppliers are required to adhere to a strict code of conduct that covers human rights, fair labor practices, and environmental protection.
Third-party Certification: We seek independent certification (such as Responsible Jewellery Council, Fairmined, CIBJO or similar) to validate our sourcing practices and provide assurance to clients and stakeholders.
Support for Local Miners: We foster relationships with small-scale and artisanal miners, ensuring they receive fair compensation and access to safety training and better mining technologies.
Regarding serious abuses associated with the extraction, transport, or trade of diamonds/ colored gemstones: We will neither tolerate nor profit from, contribute to, assist, or facilitate the commission of:
- Torture, cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment.
- Forced or compulsory labor.
- The worst forms of child labor.
- Human rights violations and abuse.
- War crimes, violations of international humanitarian law, crimes against humanity, or genocide.
We will immediately cease engagement with upstream suppliers if we find a reasonable risk that they are committing abuses described in the preceding clause or are sourcing from, or linked to, any party committing these abuses.
Regarding direct or indirect support to non-state armed groups: We will not tolerate direct or indirect support to non-state armed groups, including, but not limited to, procuring colored gemstones from, making payments to, or otherwise helping or equipping non-state armed groups or their affiliates who illegally:
- Control mine sites, transportation routes, points where colored gemstones are traded, and upstream actors in the supply chain.
- Tax or extort money or colored gemstones at mine sites, along transportation routes, or at points where colored gemstones are traded, or from intermediaries, export companies, or international traders.
We will immediately cease engagement with upstream suppliers if we find a reasonable risk that they are sourcing from, or are linked to, any party providing direct or indirect support to non-state armed groups as described in the preceding clause.
Regarding public or private security forces: We affirm that the role of public or private security forces is to provide security to workers, facilities, equipment, and property in accordance with the rule of law, including laws that guarantee human rights. We will not provide direct or indirect support to public or private security forces that commit abuses.
Regarding bribery and fraudulent misrepresentation of the origin of colored gemstones: We will not offer, promise, give, or demand bribes, and will resist the solicitation of bribes, to conceal or disguise the origin of colored gemstones, or to misrepresent taxes, fees, and royalties paid to governments for the purpose of extraction, trade, handling, transport, and export of diamonds.
